Unreleased DS Hardware


The new DSi LL has already been released in Japan, and will be released as the DSi XL in North America next year, but we almost had a different handheld entirely. Nintendo has released this picture of an extra-large DS Lite that was once in the works. This one boasted a 3.8 inch rather than the 4.2 inches that the DSi LL has. Nintendo decided to scrap this project and released the DSi instead, but it's neat to see what might have been.

DSi LL Sells Over 100,000 Copies in First Weekend

The numbers are in after the DSi's Japan launch this Saturday, and it looks like a hit. 103,524 units were sold on Saturday and Sunday. While the sales numbers aren't quite as high as they were for the DSi, which sold over 170,000 copies in its debut weekend, they're still impressive. The PSPgo, which also launched recently, only sold 29,000 units in its first week.

DSi Black Friday Deal

Nintendo has announced a special DSi deal for this black Friday. Shoppers looking to buy a DSi will be able to choose from two DSis pre-loaded with 5 games each. The blue DSi will come packaged with Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Minis March Again, Dr. Mario Express, WarioWare: Snapped!, Mario Calculator, and Mario Clock. The white DSi comes with Brain Age Express: Arts & Letters, Brain Age Express: Sudoku, Brain Age Express: Math, Clubhouse Games Express: Card Classics, and Photo Clock. These bundles are expected to be available at mass retailers nationwide.

DSi LL Released in Japan

The new DSi LL was released in Japan this Saturday. The system appears to be a hit, with retailers reporting lines as large as 50 and 60 people long. Exact sales numbers aren't in yet, but the system is expected to sell out. Check back here for updates!

New DSi Coming to the US

Nintendo's newly announced DSi model, the DSi LL, will be coming to the US.

"A new iteration of the Nintendo DSi; system will be introduced in Japan on November 21, 2009," says Nintendo. "To be known as Nintendo DSi LL in Japan, and as Nintendo DSi XL in North America and Europe, it will offer a screen 93% larger than the current Nintendo DS Lite with a better view angle, an additional longer touch screen stylus, and preinstalled Nintendo DSiWare software."

"The new version will arrive in North America and Europe in the first quarter of calendar year 2010."

DSi LL Announced

The rumors about a new DSi model posted about here are true! Nintendo has official announced a new, larger screened DSi model, called the DSi LL. There is a huge difference in since from the current DSi model, as you can see below.

The DSi LL is designed so that people around you can watch and enjoy what's on your DS. Not only is the screen size 93% bigger, but the system also has an improved viewing angle of the screens.

The DSi LL will come in Wine Red, Dark Brown, Natural White, and will launch at a price of 20,000 yen ( a little over $200 US dollars). The DSi comes out on November 21st, 2009.
