Nostalgia DS News

New information on the upcoming DS RPG has been revealed. Nostalgia is a 3D game that allows players to travel the world via airships. The gameplay will be turn-based and appears to be fairly standard. Nostalgia does not have players travel a world map. They fly from location to location via their airship and then get out and walk around once they've landed. The game will also feature airship battles that let party members use different parts of the airship to attack enemies.  Nostalgia comes out on October 27 and is rated E10+ for Mild Fantasy Violence.

Blur Appearing in LEGO Rock Band

Blur has just been added to the list of music artist who'll be featured in the upcoming DS game LEGO Rock Band. The band members will be transformed into LEGO versions of themselves and they perform their hit "Song 2.". LEGO Rock Band comes out on November 3, 2009.

Upcoming DS RPGs

The DS has a great selection of RPGs, and it looks like the selection is going to keep on improving. Here are a few upcoming RPGs for the DS you can look forward to seeing in 2010 and beyond:

Sands of Destruction:

 
















In Sands of Destruction, humans have been enslaved by a race known as the ferals. The game's main characters are part of a rebel group of slaves that wants to free humanity. Fans of Xenogears will be thrilled to hear that this SEGA RPG is developed by 3 members of the game's team. The game is due out in 2010.


Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey:

The newest game in the popular Shin Megami Tensei series tells the tale of a new dimension that has opened up in the South Pole. Strange Journey comes out in Japan later this year. It hasn't been given a US release date, but given the success of Devil Survivor, Strange Journey is likely to get one.


Glory of Heracles:

Glory of Heracles is a popular RPG series in Japan, but this will be the first time it gets a stateside release. The series is heavily based on Greek Mythology and will feature turn-based gameplay and mini-games for magical spells. The game will come out in 2010.


Golden Sun DS:

The classic Gameboy RPG is getting a 3D remake on the Nintendo DS. Fans of the original should expect the same great story and gameplay, but with improvements and additional content this go around. Golden Sun DS does not yet have a release date.


Luminous Arc 3: Eyes:

The third entry in the popular tactical RPG series will feature the same cute character designs and witch heavy storyline as its predecessors, but this version also will boast mutiple story paths and endings. A release date has not yet been set.


Princess and Knight:

Princess and Knight is a action RPG that will feature beautiful hand drawn graphics and will make interesting use of the DS stylus, using it to boost characters, weapons, and abilities. The game has been confirmed for US release but has not yet recieved a release date.


Rune Factory 3:

One part action RPG, one part farming sim, this fantasy take on the Harvest Moon franchise continues to grow in popularity. The third entry in the series will feature improved gameplay mechanics, such as seeds that grow instantly and help in battle. Rune Factory 3's release date has yet to be announced.

5 DS Games You Should Give a Chance

The Nintendo DS has a terrific game library, with something to satisfy just about anyone. However, in spite of the wide selection of games the DS offers, people frequently seem to recommend the same few DS games over and over again. Here's a list of 5 underrated DS games that are worth checking out:

1. Avalon Code

This terrific little RPG boasts great graphics and really interesting gameplay. Your character is given a book that they can use to record any person, monster, plant, or weapon in. You're able to combine and manipulate the codes of what you record to do all sorts of cool things, like cure diseases or imbue a weapon with powers. It has a high replay value as well. If you're looking for a new DS RPG, you may want to pick this one up.

2. Theresia

This strange and creepy survival horror game will appeal to fans of classic adventure games with its Myst like levels of exploration. The traps within the game can be frustrating at times, but the way the game's story is paced is masterful and genuinely frightening. If you're okay with a lot of backtracking or checking FAQs, this is a good buy.

3. Time Hollow

Time Hollow is a point and click adventure game with an interesting concept behind it. Using your DS stylus, your character is able to travel through portals in time to do things like observe past events or recover items. This title isn't for gamers who prefer more open gameplay, but those who don't mind a linear path with easily get swept up in Time Hollow's story.

4. Henry Hatsworth in the Puzzling Adventure

Fans of both puzzle games and platformers may have found their perfect game in this title. Henry Hatsworth takes full advantage of the DS' two screens, featuring a platform game on the top screen and puzzle games on the bottom one. Juggling back and forth between the two different styles of play keeps the game fresh and will keep you engaged for hours upon hours.

5. Big Bang Mini 

This gorgeous shoot-em-up game uses something a little different to take on bad guys- gamers shoot fireworks to attack their enemies. The art design on Big Bang Mini is incredible, and fans of titles like Space Invaders will be blown away by the gameplay. Best of all, this title is less than $20, making it a great way to have fun on a budget.

Pictures from the Upcoming Jonas Brothers DS Game

Pictures from the upcoming Jonas Brothers DS game, simply titled "Jonas", are now available here. The game will feature interactive environments, Jonas brothers songs, characters from the Jonas Brothers TV show, and costumes that you can dress the characters in. Jonas comes out on November 10, 2009.
